We have a wealth of experience under our belts and we know our customers have many questions when buying such a precious keepsake. We'll try to answer those questions for you below but if your specific inquiry is not addressed here don't hesitate to get in touch.
What is the difference between your ranges?
Original Fingerprint Range – prints can be made direct onto the piece if there is a jewellery in your area, or using our moulding kit. Your finished piece will capture both the shape and whorls of the fingerprint.
Tender Touch Range – this range is made from an ink print of the fingerprint. A portion of the print is enlarges and a stamp is made that is used to texture the whole piece.
Hand and Footprint ranges – prints are taken using a special inkless print kit. The print is miniaturised and a stamp created to stamp onto the piece of jewellery.
Love Letters – we can use drawings, signatures or short messages written by your loved one to create a truly unique keepsake.
What kit should I order?

What if the print doesn't work the first time?
Each kit has enough materials to take more than one print, so if you don’t get it right the first time, you can try again.
What can the prints be used for?
Your loved ones prints can be used to make pendants, charms, cufflinks or keyrings. We have many different options and styles available and these can be discussed in detail with one of our jewellers. All of our jewellery is bespoke and hand-crafted and engraved to create a truly unique keepsake. Please contact us and we will put you in touch with your local jeweller.
Will I be able to see all of the detail on the print?
Our kits have been specifically designed to capture as much detail as possible. All of our jewellers are specialists in keepsake jewellery and will do everything they can to ensure that your jewellery shows detail. For fingerprints we make a nice deep impression, so even if the whorls are not very clear because of age or other factors, the indentation is still clearly a fingerprint. For hands and footprints the print will always show the unique shape of your loved ones hand or foot.
I already have a hand and foot print - can I use them to have jewellery made?
Yes, it is usually possible to use a print that you already have. We would need to receive either a good black and white copy of the print or a high resolution scanned image by email. We do not recommend that the original is posted to us, as it would be far too precious to lose.
I have already had pieces made - can I order more?
Yes you can. If you contact the jeweller who made your jewellery they will be happy to discuss any further requirements. All fingerprint moulds and hand and footprints will be kept for 5 years.
Is there an age limit?
No – our print kits can be used to print all ages. We recommend using our hand and footprint kits for young babies and their fingerprints may not be fully formed yet.
Is there a limit to the length of name you can engrave on your jewellery?
Usually no. Smallprint jewellers are very skilful and can position prints so that you can accommodate most first names. An age or special date can also be engraved on the back and on our key rings there is room for a short message. There is no extra charge for engraving your piece.
Is your jewellery sterling silver?
Yes. Each printed item we make for you is made from sterling silver. All of our chains, bracelet and keyring attachments are also made from sterling silver.
How long does it take for my jewellery to be made?
All of our jewellery is handcrafted and hand finished and will usually take approximately 4 weeks from when we receive your prints. If you have a specific date that you need your jewellery for please contact your local jeweller who will do everything they can to meet your request.
What causes silver to tarnish?
All silver does tarnish naturally. There are many things that can cause silver to tarnish, but the most common causes are wool, food (eggs, onions, mayonnaise), rubber bands, latex gloves and certain paints. Oily salts from fingers can also tarnish silver. Silver will tarnish much more quickly in humid environments.
How can I slow down the rate of tarnishing?
Silver should be kept dry. Remove all silver jewellery before showering or cleaning. Soap can cause a film to form on silver jewellery, making it appear dull. A soft cloth is an effective and inexpensive way to keep your silver pieces lustrous and shining. Be particularly careful of chlorine. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures, can permanently damage or discolor your silver jewellery. Avoid wearing silver jewellery while using chlorine bleach or while in a pool or hot tub.
How do I look after my jewellery?
You can remove light tarnish by using a gentle washing up liquid and warm water. Carefully brush with a soft bristle brush, such as an old toothbrush. After brushing, simply rinse with lukewarm water and allow to dry. Frequent light cleanings are preferable to waiting until the tarnish gets so stubborn that more abrasive polishes have to be employed.
If your paw print item tarnishes more, you can polish it with silver polish or a silver cloth. It should come up shiny as new. Chains can be soaked in a silver dip (following the manufacturer's instructions). Do not however dip your paw print piece as it will remove the antiqued effect.
How should I store my jewellery?
If you are not wearing your jewellery for a while. Simply keep it wrapped in some acid-free tissue.
Will my piece scratch or dent?
Precious metal clay, because of its purity, is a relatively soft metal. If an item is worn every day or hung on a chain with lots of other items or on a key ring, it will gradually age.
